It further requires that the City Manager shall identify and allocate funding sources to ensure the continuous availability or Narcan and related trainings for City personnel. Departments Affected: Transit, Library, Recreation, City Manager. Consequences of Not Enacting Legislation: If this legislation is not adopted, transit, libraries, and recreation centers may lack access to Narcan and the training needed to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. Performance and Administrative Implications: The City Manager would need to identify and allocate funding sources, as needed, to ensure the continuous availability of Narcan for transit, libraries, and recreation centers, including during periods when outside recourses are not available. Fiscal Implications: ** Currently, the City receives Narcan at no cost from the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH), which is provided to the Fire Department and Transit Division. If NMDOH were to no longer supply Narcan, the City Manager would need to identify and allocate funding sources, as needed, to ensure the continued availability of Narcan and related trainings.
