17. PETITIONS FROM THE FLOOR
Brooklyn Freedom. Mr. Freedom said instead of using AstroTurf on playing fields,
go back to natural surfaces.
No name. You say you are all about public health, these police officers and fire
people are not mental health specialists. Fund that team separately.
Natasha Norell. Ms. Norell said she is part of the Los Alamos Study Group and
opposes all nuclear weapons and increased pit production.
Shane Brown. Taos, NM. Mr. Brown said he is part of the Los Alamos Study
Group and opposed increased pit production.
Lewis DeMello. Mr. DeMello spoke about the need for workforce housing
support and that 1,000 city employees do not live within the City limits due to the prices.
Dillion Schwegal. Mr. Schwegal spoke about his concern regarding the serious
crisis the City is facing in shelter capacity and beds.
Winston Delorate. Mr. Delorate said he lives in the neighborhood around the
Agape House and that getting rid of the shelter is not the answer.
Carina Juliette. Ms. Juliette spoke about the attention given in the budget to
public records. Public records are the core of transparency and public trust. She
encouraged the streaming and recording of committee meetings as well as those in
Council Chambers.
Mary Hull. Ms. Hull said Urban Alchemy is first and foremost a job creation
process for formerly incarcerated individuals. Their street outreach program does not

have fully trained individuals.
Stephanie Beninato. Ms. Beninato said she is sorry you are doing the budget so
late. The savings proposed does not fund the additional employees. She spoke about
her concern that only 2 pools will be open in summer and about IPRA requests.
Rachel Thompson. Ms. Thompson said she support the comments made by
Mary Hull and Carina.
